Dalhousie University is located in the south end of
peninsular Halifax. The conference hotels are a fifteen minute walk
to the main conference venue; The Marion McCain Arts & Social
Science Building, 6135 University Ave.

Air Travel
Halifax International Airport (YHZ) is located
approximately 35 kilometres from south end Halifax, and takes about 30
to 45 minutes to drive by car.
Taxi
Taxi and limousine services are available curbside in
the Domestic Arrivals area for all arriving flights. A one-way trip to
Halifax city center is $53.00 (Canadian) by taxi.
Shuttle-Bus
Airporter Inc. provides shuttle service to and from
hotels in the Metro Area. Core hours of operation are 6:00 a.m. - 1:00
a.m. daily. Regular rates for the Airporter service are $16.00
(Canadian) one way or $28.00 (Canadian) for a return ticket. Children
under 10 years of age accompanied by an adult ride for free. For more

Car Travel
- From the airport take Highway 102 towards Halifax/Dartmouth.
- From Highway 102, take Highway 118 to the Highway 111 towards
the Murray MacKay Bridge.
- The toll for the bridge is $0.75 (it must be three quarters,
the toll booth on the far right can make change if required).
- Once over the bridge take Robie St.
- The Holiday Inn Select (1980 Robie St):
proceed on Robie St just past Quinpool Road (5th set of lights).
- The Lord Nelson Hotel (1515 South Park St):
proceed on Robie St and turn left on Spring Garden Road
(7th set of lights on Robie); proceed on Spring Garden Road
and turn left onto South Park St (2nd set of lights).
- Howe Hall Residence (6230 Coburg Rd):
turn right on Coburg Rd also at the 7th set of lights on Robie
(Coburg becomes Spring Garden Rd at Robie).
Howe Hall is on the left in the fifth block on Coburg Rd
- Main conference venue, (McCain Building, 6135 University Ave),
proceed on Robie St and turn right on University Avenue
(8th set of lights on Robie).
The McCain building is on the right in the fourth (short) block
Metered parking is available in the next block of University Ave.
Parking permits ($7/day or $28/wk tax included) are available from
the security office in the basement of the McCain building
Train Travel
VIA Rail Canada's "The Ocean" links Montreal and
Halifax. The Ocean leaves Montreal in the evening, and travels along
the south shore of the St. Lawrence River. Continuing southwards
across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, the train reaches Halifax in
mid-afternoon. In the other direction, the Ocean leaves Halifax in the
afternoon, and arrives in Montreal the next morning. The Ocean runs
every day except Tuesday. The VIA station adjoins the Westin Hotel
and is about a 25 minute walk from the main conference venue.
