Participation in post-secondary education: graduates, continuers and drop outs: results from YITS cycle 4 |
| Abstract |
Using the latest available data from the Youth in Transition Survey (YITS), this paper profiles post-secondary education students as they transition thought their education. Of particular interest are students who enter different types and levels of post-secondary education. While in education, their patterns of completion, graduation, program changes and dropping out, and continuation of studies are analyzed. The paper also utilizes the longitudinal aspect of the data to estimate the effects of a number of incidents on completion of post-secondary education. This research builds on a number of already completed research papers using previously available cycles of YITS. With the availably of the fourth cycle of the data, this paper is more able to provide a more complete picture of Canadian post-secondary education. In addition, given the initial nature of analyses in this paper, the presentation will also aim at increasing the awareness of this rich data set in the research community. |
