Notes From the CEA

Separate CEA Meetings

At the December 1996 Executive Meetings, it was decided to survey the members about leaving the Learneds and establishing a separate CEA Meeting. This would be an experiment and not a permanent decision. A letter describing this option and a ballot for you to return is included with the February issue of the CJE. Please express your opinion by completing and returning the ballot.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee of the Canadian Economics Association places the following candidates in nomination for election to the Executive Council with terms beginning in June 1997.

The constitution provides that additional nominations may be made by any five members by submitting a nomination paper signed by the nominee and five Association members. Such additional nominations must reach the President no later than March 15, 1997. If additional nominations are received, a postal ballot will be conducted prior to the Annual General Meeting. The names of those elected will be announced at the Meeting.
