Travel Grants

Financial assistance for travel to the 49th annual meeting of the CEA, to be held at Ryerson University in Toronto, May 29th to May 31, 2015

Committed to encouraging students and faculty members to take part in the CEA meetings, the Canadian Economics Association provides travel assistance to a limited number of participants to the annual meetings. Please note that CEA travel grants only cover part of the cost of travel to the meetings, and successful applicants should still expect to incur some travel costs. Grant recipients are expected to attend the 3 days of the conference.

Check for other sources of funding that might be available. CWEN members might be eligible to apply for CWEN's travel grant.

The number and the amount of CEA travel grants depend on the number of applicants, having received a travel grant from the CEA in the past, and the estimated cost of travelling to the conference location. For example, a student travelling from Calgary to Vancouver will receive less than a student travelling from Halifax to Vancouver.

Eligibility criteria for application:

  • Valid 2015 CEA membership;

  • Present a paper in regular or short presentation session at the meetings;

  • Be enrolled as a student in a Canadian university or college; OR Be a Canadian citizen enrolled as a student in a university outside of Canada; OR be a faculty member at an institution outside Canada’s large urban centres (e.g. UNBC, MUN, Lakehead);

  • Commit to attend the 3 days of the conference.

Note that the CEA will not consider applications from non-Canadians affiliated with a university outside of Canada.

Priority is given to students then to Faculty members. Moreover, priority is given to those who have never receive a travel grant from the CEA.
